HOMETechnical Know-HowApplications of Precision ceramic materials

overview

The prosperous development of the modern industry represented by the electronics and heavy chemical industries is demanding highly functional materials which resist against even more severe environments and meet such conditions as making as light, small, and condense as possible.

Precision ceramic materials, in particular, not only have the unique properties of excellent electromagnetic insulation, heat resistance, high strength, and high hardness, which are hard to find in other metals or polymer materials but also are excellent at chemical stability, which have contributed to the increasing awareness of their importance in all industrial fields and brought them into the limelight as a new type of materials. Precision ceramic materials, however, have not gained popularity yet because of their short history and difficulty in terms of manufacturing technology. Recently, however, with the advancement of manufacturing technology, their unique properties have earned recognition and exert excellent performance in the special fields including semiconductor equipment parts and wear-resistant structures.

Definition of Precision ceramic materials
Precision ceramic materials are made by using highly pure raw materials for artificial synthesis and designed to utilize the excellent properties of such materials.
